This Morning Guest Badmouths Holly Willoughby And Philip Schofield’s Behaviour

Melinda Messenger feels she was silenced by Holly, Philip and Dr Chris on This Morning, and she's hitting back...

One celebrity who isn’t very happy with This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield right now is Melinda Messenger.

The former model caused a bit of controversy when she appeared on the ITV show to talk about HPV vaccine earlier this week and urged other parents not to let their daughters have it.

During the conversation, she was slammed by the show’s resident medic Dr Chris Steele for ‘irresponsibly’ discouraging parents to get their children the vaccine, which can prevent cervical cancer.

‘What upsets me, Melinda, is that you’ve actually come out into the public domain and said this’, Dr Chris said to her on live TV. ‘You could have just said this privately.’

The whole conversation was fairly tense, and now, Melinda’s come out and said she felt like she was being ganged up on not only by by Chris, but hosts Holly and Philip too.

Accusing Holly and Philip of having been briefed to not say certain things to her during her interview, Melinda said: ‘I can only assume that the This Morning team, Philip and Holly must have had a huge amount of pressure on them on what to let me say, and what to stop me from saying.’

‘Four against one, the PHA [Public Health Authority] must have been very worried.’She continued: ‘I was shocked and surprised at how Dr Chris Steel treated me during my interview on This Morning and also when I came off screen as well.

‘The level of anger and hostility thrown at me was extreme, especially considering they had invited me on to talk about my concerns as a parent over the HPV vaccine, but would not let me talk or have another supporting voice who shared the same view, to balance out the debate.’Following the show, Melinda also tweeted: ‘I don’t think any one should be bullied into silence. We all have a right to our opinions. And you have a right to be heard.’What did you think of the argument? Tweet us @lookmagazine.
