The 24-year-old's relationship drama played out on screen. And she's spoken out about how she's *really* feeling now...
Last night’s episode of The Only Way Is Essex was definitely an emotional one.
We don’t know about you, but our hearts were completely breaking for Megan McKenna as we watched her best friend Danielle Armstrong break the news that Pete Wicks’s saucy text messages to his former flame had been published all over the internet.
Like Megan, we went from angry, to sad, to confused, all in the space of the hour-long show.
The 24-year-old confronted her boyfriend about lying to her, accusing him of gifting her a Rolex on her birthday out of ‘guilt’, before storming off. Pete then flew home to have a heart-to-heart with his pal James Lock, whilst Megan followed a little later to spend some much-needed girl time with her sister, Milly.
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant told her man that she couldn’t be with him right now, as she tried to make sense of his behaviour.
We imagine that the whole thing was pretty painful for Megan to experience all over again. But she had the back-up of her closest friends, surrounding herself with the girls (and Chinese takeaway) for the viewing.
She tweeted before the show:
And the feisty lady wasted no time in sharing her reaction with her followers, who had all taken to the social media site to support her.
Taking part in a live Periscope through the official The Only Way Is Essex Twitter account, Danielle talked Megan through some of the public’s burning questions.
Danni asked, ‘How are you actually feeling after watching that?’
Megan answered, ‘Obviously it’s hard seeing me and Pete obviously upset, but I feel like I’ve kind of gone through all of the stages. I’ve gone through being upset, being angry, and it’s a weird feeling. I don’t really know. I don’t really have any feelings right now.’
She added: ‘I know it sounds cringe, but I do feel a bit numb from it.’
Dan also asked Megan how she had been able to keep it to herself, before the messages were made public.
She explained, ‘I was dealing with it in my own way in private. I didn’t want everyone knowing, like now, because it makes it a lot harder. Everyone jumps on it. Everyone’s commenting.
‘I think people actually forget that I have feelings. I’m actually a real person.’
At this point, Danielle jumped in, telling the camera: ‘Megan is actually real. I know we’re on a reality TV show guys, but we have got real feelings. And I do think people need to respect that.’
Megan went on to say that whilst yes, she signed up for the show, she hadn’t ‘signed up for my boyfriend publicly humiliating me.’
On the future of her relationship, Meg revealed, ‘I don’t know if I can forgive him.
‘Obviously I still love him. I can’t turn my feelings off. What’s in my head is, I don’t know if I can get back with someone and not be a paranoid mess. I feel like the whole time I’m going to be worrying. When he’s on his phone. When he’s out. And I don’t know if I can put myself through that.’
