Made In Chelsea's Proudlock: My Mum Wants To Be On The Show!
Made In Chelsea is returning to E4 on Monday (15th October) for series four - and we... can't...WAIT.
So what do the stars of the show get up to while they're not filming? They have real jobs. Honest! Aside from being one of MIC's hottest gents, Oliver Proudlock is an artist and fashion designer.
Here, in the first snippet of our interview, he talks to LOOK.co.uk about his clothing line Serge De Nimes… and his mum!
Hi Proudlock, tell us how you got into fashion... I went to Newcastle University where I studied Fine Art and I always used to put my art on t-shirts. I’ve always been in to fashion - my mum used to have her own clothes line. When I came back to London I tried to continue with my art but it was really hard - so I decided to do something a little different.
Why Serge De Nimes? I eventually want to develop it into a denim brand. It's the original name for denim - the fabric is actually called serge and it was first created in Nimes, France. Instead of going straight into denim I wanted to do something I’m familiar with and then expand on that. I set it up last June and the response has been great!
Where can we buy one of your t-shirts? We’ve got some really cool stockists like Harrods, Wolf And Badger and now we’ve just released a new collection – we’re doing jumpers, hats, beanies and bags for the winter, slowly bringing in denim in the form of denim caps and rucksacks. You can buy them at sergedenimes.com.
Will we see any more of your line on Made In Chelsea? We’re working on a cologne at the moment, which is going to be called 'So Serge' - we’re bringing it out next year and you’ll see something on it on the next series. We’re now designing and developing the bottle. Over the last three months it’s been really interesting learning all the different notes and the different smells. It’s developed my big nose!
Do you make the Made In Chelsea gang wear your tees? The guys love my stuff which is really cool - luckily I don’t have to force it on them.
We saw your mum helping you out at your t-shirt launch party last series - is she coming back? She loved it. Like a bit too much. She basically wants to be a full time character now. I’m like 'Mum… I’m not sure...'"
We had lunch at: La Brasserie, 272 Brompton Road, London We drank: Freshly-squeezed orange juice We ate: Fillet of salmon on a bed of lentils (Proudlock's favourite!) We wore: Serge De Nimes tees, of course
