Remember Joe? Well, if you watched this hit documentary, then you'll want to read this...
Rewind back to April of this year, and you probably saw quite a bit of chat surrounding a man named Joe Walker.
He was, of course, one of the subjects of Louis Theroux’s documentary about alcoholism, Drinking To Oblivion.
Joe’s story had quite the impact on viewers at the time, with many flocking to social media to comment on their concern for him.
The 32-year-old was desperate to kick his life-threatening habit, but unfortunately kept relapsing, time after time.
After a harrowing and emotional series of events, the documentary ended on a happier note, with Louis visiting Joe in his hometown of Brighton. We saw him happy and sober, with Joe stating that he was clean from alcohol.
But, natch, we were all left wondering whether he was able to stick to his new, healthier lifestyle.
In June, Louis Theroux offered an update on Joe’s situation. The documentary maker uploaded a smiling selfie with his subject, along with the caption: ‘Coffee with @joedwalker from my alcohol programme, 8 months sober. Congrats, dude! #beards #aa.’
Of course, the internet erupted with applause.
Now even more time has passed, but don’t think that Joe doesn’t still appear in our thoughts every now and then (particularly when we’re cosying up for our latest Theroux binge).
If you’re with us on that one, we’re about to make your day. Or, to be more accurate, Joe is. Because he’s only gone and made it to ONE YEAR sober.

His followers wasted very little time in sharing the love, with replies including: ‘Amazing! Huge congratulations, so pleased for you’ and ‘Genuinely made my day to read this. Fantastic and best of luck.’
