Anyone who watched Louis Theroux’s BBC2 documentary, ‘Drinking To Oblivion’, will have had their hearts torn open by 32-year-old Joe Walker.
Joe was an alcoholic who was desperate to kick his life-threatening habit, but who unfortunately kept relapsing, time after time.
We watched as Louis comforted Joe as he broke down in tears in hospital over his alcoholism, and he was eventually told that he would die if he didn’t stop drinking.
Thankfully, the documentary ended with Louis visiting Joe in his hometown of Brighton, where we saw a happy and sober Joe stating that he was clean from alcohol. But we were left wondering, what’s Joe doing now?
Well, Theroux decided to give fans a heartwarming update yesterday, as he posted a smiling selfie of him and Joe with the caption: ‘Coffee with @joedwalker from my alcohol programme, 8 months sober. Congrats, dude! #beards #aa.’
The photo totally warmed out hearts, as we (along with every other viewer) were rooting for the lovely Joe during the entire programme.
This is also good news for Louis fans, as he’s clearly filming a follow-up documentary to his hugely successful April show.
Congrats to Joe. Good man.
