The 27-year-old thanked his ex for congratulating him on his silver medal...
It’s nice when exes can be civil, eh? And that’s exactly what Louis Smith and Lucy Mecklenburgh appear to be.
The pair ended their year-long relationship back in February, but that didn’t stop 24-year-old Lucy from sending Louis, 27, a sweet Tweet after his Olympic success at the weekend.
In what’s been dubbed ‘Sensational Sunday’, Louis walked away with a silver in the pommel horse event, while his teammate Max Whitlock scored double gold in both the pommel horse and the floor.
Yep. It was impressive stuff.
Lucy clearly agreed, writing on the site: ‘Amazing job @louissmith1989 & @maxwhitlock1 .. Hard work & dedication really does pay off!!! ???? ?? #Rio2016 #Olympics #gymnastics.’
And now Louis has responded, saying: ‘@lucy_meck thank you for the tweet babes, and thank you for supporting me through 2015 ❤.’
Of course, this has got their followers pretty excited.
One Tweeted: ‘Jus be together again ?,’ while another commented: ‘Can you guys get back together now !!!perfect couple beautiful babies!!! [sic].’
Hmm. We’re not sure if that’s on the cards, but it’s great to see that they seem to be on friendly terms again.
If you cast your minds back to earlier in this year, you’ll remember that things weren’t always so good between the pair. Lucy admitted that she was ‘really hurt’ by their split, and that she’d blocked Louis on social media.
When Louis hinted that he thought Lucy spent too much time on her phone, she told Now: ‘It’s just my life. I’m emailing and on social media… It’s what I have to do. I’m aware of it.
‘But he didn’t communicate enough for me to realise that it was a massive deal until near the very end of the relationship.’
Happily, it looks as though that’s all in the past. Congratulations again, Louis!
