Gymnast Louis nabbed second place in the pommel horse event yesterday...
It sounds like Lucy Mecklenburgh is well and truly hooked on the Olympics. Well, aren’t we all?
The ex-TOWIE star, 24, took to Twitter yesterday to send a string of supportive Tweets to Team GB – and she seemed particularly impressed by our gymnastics squad.
In case you missed what’s been dubbed ‘Sensational Sunday’, Louis Smith walked away with a silver in the pommel horse event, while Max Whitlock scored double gold in both the pommel horse and the floor.
Yep. It was pretty ah-mazing. And what made Lucy’s messages all the sweeter is the fact that she and Louis, 27, actually used to date.
The pair ended their year-long relationship back in February, after which Lucy admitted that she was ‘really hurt’ and that she’d blocked her ex on social media.
But it seems as though things are now less frosty between them, as she wrote last night: ‘Amazing job @louissmith1989 & @maxwhitlock1 .. Hard work & dedication really does pay off!!! ???? ?? #Rio2016 #Olympics #gymnastics.
‘@TeamGB are absolutely smashing it!!!!!! #ProudToBeBritish #Rio2016 #Olympics ???????.’
Cute, huh? Considering Louis didn’t exactly have the easiest time after his silver medal win, we reckon he’ll really appreciate the sentiment.
After finding out that Max had beaten him in the pommel horse event, he was labelled a ‘bad loser’ for appearing to swear on camera. Talking to American Alexander Naddour – who’d picked up bronze – he allegedly said: ‘That’s bulls***.’ Eep.

Viewers also criticised him for failing to congratulate Max when the pair were presented with their medals.
However, he’s since denied these claims on his page, congratulating his teammate with: ‘I’m so relieved. What a pommel final!! @maxwhitlock1 a true champion.’
He also explained the ‘swearing’ incident, adding: ‘That was after the Armenian had messed up and Alex was still in with a shout. I said “should be proud man”. Sorry to disappoint.’
Phew. We’re glad that’s all cleared up.
