The 23-year-old singer took to Twitter last night...

Liam Payne seems to have confirmed his little boy’s name. And yep, it’s Bear!

It was reported earlier this week that the One Direction singer and his girlfriend Cheryl had finally settled on a moniker, five weeks after becoming parents.

A source told The Sun: ‘Cheryl and Liam wanted to get to know their baby before deciding on a name. They spent over a week getting to know him first before deciding.

‘They didn’t have the name Bear before the birth. But they’d been thinking of a name since meeting him and they just felt it suited him.

‘They love their little baby Bear Payne and are truly over the moon and loving being parents for the first time together.’

Of course, fans have been quick to congratulate the couple – and so have a few famous faces.

They received a sweet Tweet from adventurer Bear Grylls yesterday, which read: ‘Great choice! Love & blessings to you guys as you start on the greatest adventure… @CherylOfficial @LiamPayne [sic].’

Bear Grylls

Bear Grylls is clearly keen on the name Cheryl and Liam Payne have chosen for their son

We mean, Bear’s real name is actually Edward, but we guess it still counts…

Anyway, this is where Liam appeared to verify his son’s name. The 23-year-old replied: ‘Thanks man hope he grows with an ounce of your courage! Your a boss [sic].’

Aw. It’s quirky, but we like it.

It’s quite different from the name 1D fans originally thought Chiam had picked. After seeing a listing for a ‘Taylor Payne’ on a celebrity birthday website, some eagle-eyed Directioners remembered a time back in 2012 – before he started a relationship with Cheryl – where Liam said: ‘I like the name Taylor.

‘Taylor’s pretty neutral for a boy or a girl. That’s what I’m going to call my first child if I had children.’

It seems Cheryl vetoed that one, eh?
