Laura Whitmore was absolutely gutted to miss Strictly Come Dancing last weekend.

The 31-year-old presenter was forced to pull out of Saturday’s live show due to an ankle injury, which she’d sustained during rehearsals with partner Giovanni Pernice earlier in the week.

Doctors told Laura to rest, fearing that she could do ‘permanent damage’. She then explained the situation to fans in a lengthy Twitter statement.

She wrote: ‘Absolutely Devastated… It was a decision taken out of my hands. If it was my choice, I’d be on the dance floor doing my jive with Gio.

‘My priority is to follow the doctors instructions to get myself on my feet again without permanent damage and do the thing I love the most, dancing! Thanks to all my fellow contestants for the support they’ve given me in the last 24hrs [sic].’

Laura reiterated this feeling on It Takes Two last night, telling host Zoe Ball: ‘It’s quite upsetting. It was the one we were really looking forward to doing.

‘You spend a while doing a dance, choreographing it but we really didn’t know until right up until the day whether I could dance it or not.

‘I feel like there are no tears left to come out, because it wasn’t easy. Gio was great and thanks to everyone as well, all the contestants, the crew they’ve given me so much support.’

Happily, it seems as though Laura will be back on the dance floor this weekend.

She’s since Tweeted: ‘Back to training….I’m quite a bit behind and being very careful. But will try my best guys!’

We’ve got our fingers crossed for you, lady.
