So A Fitbit Actually Tracked A Man’s Heartbreak

Your Fitbit can track lots of things – your steps, your calories burned and your heart rate – but did you know it can also detect heartbreak?!

Well, for one guy, it actually did. Grab your tissues, because this one is a tear-jerker…

28-year-old Koby Soto from Tel Aviv received the worst news ever at the weekend – he’d been dumped.

His partner called him to end things on Saturday, leaving a heartbroken Soto alone and upset, upon which he called a pal to share his emotions.

And guess what? When he opened up his Fitbit app later that night, he was stunned to see that the tiny little fitness gadget had actually RECORDED the moment his heart broke earlier that day. Sob.

Whilst his resting heart rate was around 72 beats per minute all morning, the minute he got the devestating break-up call, it shot up to 88bpm. It then remained up there for the whole afternoon (while he was pining), even reaching a startling 118 at one point.

(Please note, at no point during this day did Koby do ANY exercise)… Cool, huh? Well, not for Koby’s heart. But you know what we mean.

So, how did he feel when he saw his heartbreak right there on the screen?!

‘I feel like it’s nice to have a log of your confirmation of what you felt’, Koby told Buzzfeed News. ‘You can tell people you have heartbreak and you feel bad.’

‘People become less cynical once you show them the numbers or once you show the data or graphs. Everyone understands heartbreak, right? Everyone’s felt it. When you have this, it’s interesting — you have something to show.’

Aw. We hope his heart is mended soon.
