UPDATE 5/2/15: While Gigi often gets advice on the world of modelling from gal pal Kendall, there’s someone else that helped her rise to fame.
Speaking to LOVE Magazine, Gigi said that just a few weeks before her ground-breaking Victoria’s Secret catwalk debut, it was Naomi Campbell sharing her pearls of wisdom with the young model.
“I was with Naomi a couple of weeks before the [Victoria’s Secret] show. She said, ‘Don’t apologize, don’t do it. You are perfect the way you are. Everyone said my walk was weird too.'”
And it didn’t stop there. Naomi went on to invite Gigi to her hotel for a runway workshop.
“I was like, ‘Okay,'” Gigi recalls. “I go to her hotel and we end up practicing walking in the hallway of the hotel. Italian families are coming out to watch and she’s like, ‘Don’t look at them, keep walking, they’re your audience.’ The elevator would open and the waiter would come out–’Don’t look at him, he’s your audience, do a spin and keep going.’ It was terrifying, walking in front of this Italian grandmother and her kid. After getting a lot of different opinions about my past Fashion Week, I went into the VS show thinking, ‘Yeah. Maybe I am different,’ but I have heard Naomi saying, ‘Bitch better have my money after I walked for her.’ So it’s going to be fine. If people don’t like how I walk then they don’t have to watch.”
Yep, Gigi really did learn from the best…
2/12/15: Gigi Hadid has given the world a little glimpse into her fabulous friendship with fellow supermodel Kendall Jenner. Talking to British Vogue – with whom she just scored her debut cover – Ms Hadid describes Kendall as being a little “more guarded” than her “feisty” self.
“I don’t want to say outgoing, because she is really outgoing once you get to know her. And when we’re both having fun, she makes me a lot more spontaneous. It’s a good balance. But neither of us likes to stay out past 11,” Gigi told the mag.
This isn’t the first time the bombshell has shed light on her close friendship. Just recently, Gigi shared how Kendall Jenner has been preparing her BFF for the dizzy heights of fame for some time.

Of course, Gigi has been modelling since a young age. But with her mum Yolanda Foster’s role on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills and her recent surge in popularity, she’s now almost as well-known as Kendall.
There was also that ah-mazing debut on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk earlier this month (that Kendall also partook in).
Thanks to Kendall’s family reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, she’s been in the spotlight since a young age. So what nuggets of wisdom does the 20-year-old have to pass on?
Speaking at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Gigi told Access Hollywood: ‘She’s just really helpful, but she’s also the most low maintenance person and that’s what I really respect about her.
‘When you ask her a question or for advice, it’s always going to be: “Just let it happen, just let it go and, you know, be cool about it,” and that’s always her thing, just be cool and let it go.
‘I think that’s the best way to go, because if you start to overthink things and always try and fix things perfectly it’s just gonna be stressful. And that’s probably what I’ve learned from Kendall the most, just to chill out a bit.’
Aw. Ain’t that cute?
Despite Kendall being such a good advice-giver, she also occasionally needs a bit of support herself.
While Gigi admits that Kendall had joined her at the AMAs to help her through the nerves of presenting an award, the 20-year-old often does the same in return.
Gigi continued: ‘We’re sitting together tonight, she’s my date, she’s not presenting.
‘She’s like: “I’m only coming to be your date,” but we kinda go back and forth on who’s supporting who for that night.’
Well. That’s what friends are for, right?
