Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress designer Sarah Burton was awarded an OBE at Buckingham Palace today for her services to the British fashion industry.
While posing with her honour, Sarah, who is heavily pregnant with twins, was asked whether or not she would like to design maternity clothes for the Duchess Of Cambridge, and she replied: “I hope I will be!” Yay!
Sarah, the creative director at Alexander McQueen, spent months making Kate’s dress and described the commission as a “real honour”.
She said: “She looked so beautiful, she’s got such an amazing sense of grace and style, it was quite easy to make her look good.
“It was a real labour of love and a real collaboration, for me it was a huge highlight of my career.”
St James’ Palace said in 2011 that Kate chose McQueen for her big day as she loved the “beauty of its craftsmanship” and its “respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing”.
We can’t wait to see Kate’s maternity wardrobe. Congrats, Sarah! RM
