Kate Middleton Skips Wedding To Go Antique Shopping

Kate Middleton may have already made her final official appearance but she was spotted out and about on an off-duty shopping trip, last Saturday in Hungerford. The pregnant royal visited an antiques shop in the small town just 30 minutes away from her family home in Berkshire.

Prince William attended the wedding of Lady Melissa Percy that afternoon, at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, and it was thought that Kate might attend with him. Instead, she chose to stay local (very wise when you’re so close to your due date – you never know when you might go into labour!) and Prince William went to the society wedding with Prince Harry and Harry’s girlfriend Cressida Bonas, along with Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton.

Kate, pictured above on her last off-duty shopping trip, in Chelsea, West London, started her official maternity last week, after appearing at Trooping The Colour to mark the Queen’s official birthday. We think pottering around antique shops (and possibly stopping off for some tea and cake) is a grand way to spend your maternity leave. Kate was dressed in a classic beige mac, black top and trousers and black ballet flats for her shopping trip in Hungerford – stylish yet practical, Kate, we approve! The Duchess carried a grey leather bag that had some papers poking out of the top – was it her hospital notes that all heavily pregnant mums are advised to carry with them at all times?

Somehow we suspect Kate Middleton may have staff who carry her hospital notes for her…
