Let’s face it. Getting into university is stressful. The sleepless nights revising (or thinking about it) combined with hearing about how much pressure it is to actually get into your dream university (even when predicted all A*), is enough to drive any normal 18-year old crazy.
But a stellar recommendation letter from your favourite teacher doesn’t go a miss.
And now Karlie Kloss, who is officially a student at New York University as of this month, has gone one step further – revealing supermodel veteran, Christy Turlington wrote hers!
“It was all about my crush on Karlie in 500 words,” said Christy in a recent interview. “She is going to take this education and blow it up. She’s so eager and ready and thoughtful about her next steps.”
23-year old Karlie Kloss credits the 90s icon for her decision to swap the catwalk for pursuing further education. “The whole idea of believing I could go to college, and model, comes straight from Christy. It’s a lot to take on, but she did it.”
Christy Turlington, one of the original ‘supermodels’, studied at NYU herself, at the height of her modeling fame – graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Religion and Eastern Philosophy.
And while we don’t know for certain what Karlie is studying – we’ve got our bets on computer science. She’s been open about her passion for the tech world, indulging in computer coding in her spare time. “Coding is fascinating,” Karlie says. “Everything around us, the world we live in today, and the future is written in code.” She even sponsored the #KodeWithKarlie scholarship in America, which helped send a group of students to go to a coding summer school.
While Karlie may be pursuing her schooling, that doesn’t mean she’ll be retiring from the runway just yet. Only this weekend she was spotted walking the DVF runway for New York Fashion Week, looking pretty in pink alongside her supermodel pals Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.
