The Chanel creative director has made some less than sympathetic comments about Kim Kardashian's terrifying robbery in Paris...
Karl Lagerfeld has spoken out about Kim Kardashian’s terrifying ordeal in Paris, where she was bound and gagged by five masked gunmen who then raided her Paris apartment.
The creative director at Chanel has often been seen in the same circles as Kim, and the pair are believed to be on friendly terms.
But when asked about Kim’s horrific robbery, the famous designer was surprisingly unsympathetic towards the mum-of-two, as he suggested she shouldn’t put her wealth ‘on display’ so often.
‘I don’t understand why she was in a hotel with no security and think like this,’ the 83-year-old designer said, as reported by the Telegraph.
‘If you are that famous and you put all your jewellery on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room. You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.’
Whilst Karl’s comments seemed pretty harsh, especially after such a horrible event, the designer did send a message of support to Kim on social media.
Shared by V Magazine, Karl was seen holding up a sign that read: ‘Dearest Kim, we are all with you.’
Kim’s BFF Jonathan Cheban was asked how the star was doing as he entered her New York apartment yesterday, and admitting that she’s struggling.
‘She’s not doing so good’, he told reporters outside the property.
Jonathan’s update comes as new details emerge surrounding Kim’s robbery, with PEOPLE reporting: ‘[Kim] was tied up, and gagged with duct tape wrapped around her head. They put plastic ties around her wrists but she managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by wriggling her hands.’
‘She was hysterical but not screaming as she knew she had to keep quiet to survive’, the source continued. ‘She had a gun to her head the whole time.’
