‘Jessie J And I Stick Together!’ Says Holly Willoughby

Series two of The Voice returns to our TVs this Saturday, which means we’ll see Jessie J, Will.i.am, Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue battle it out to find another bunch of amazing new aritists. LOOK’s Gemma Calvert caught up with presenters Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates for all the goss on the new series – and to find out why working with the judges was like being on a “naughty school trip”!

Do you get nervous for the contestants?

H: It’s terrifying, I would die. I mean, I can’t sing anyway so everyone else would die.

R: Whereas I have a beautiful voice and it would definitely help me.

Holly, what kind of relationship do you have with Jessie as the only other girl on the show?

H: We have to stick together. We don’t go out and have dinner together or anything but Jessie’s one of the most busiest girls I’ve ever met in my life.

Do you raid her wardrobe?

H: If it would fit. Are you joking? I mean, we might be able to share a ring and that’s about it. I’m not sure I could squeeze my backside into her trousers.

Reggie we hear you do a mean Tom Jones impression…

R: Let me just make sure he can’t hear (Reggie scans the room to check Tom isn’t close by then goes for it…) “I really want you on my team.” There’s more, but you don’t look remotely impressed.

You filmed The Voice in Manchester, was that fun?

R: I think it pulled the team together. It had that naughty school trip vibe, where we were all going away to hang out for a little bit.

Who’s the biggest party animal?

R: Will is unbelievable. Literally after every show he’d say: “We hitting the club?” I was like: “It’s 11 ‘o’ clock Will, I’m knackered!” He goes out every night. He is a party animal, going to a club is research for him. And he loves it.

Did you ever succumb to the invitation?

R: No, I’m a Grandpa, I’m sorry I wear slippers in the daytime. I want to go for a cup of tea and watch Homeland.

We’ll keep you company any time, Reggie! Catch The Voice this Saturday, 30 March on BBC1 at 7pm.
