It’s been announced that Jamelia has been axed from Loose Women over comments she made about plus-size fashion.
The singer came under fire back in April when she was accused of being ‘insensitive’ during a discussion about plus sized clothing, and women above a certain weight.
‘I think everyone should have access to lovely clothes, but I do not think it’s right to facilitate people living an unhealthy lifestyle’, Jamelia said during that particular show.
‘I don’t believe stores should stock clothes below or above a certain weight. They should be made to feel uncomfortable when they go in and can’t find a size.’
At the time, Jamelia was blasted for her comments, and now, The Sun is reporting that it’s the reason she’s lost her spot on the show.
‘Jamelia really annoyed bosses with her comments on high street shops selling bigger clothes’, an insider told the publication.
‘The show is often close to the bone but those comments were the final straw. Loose Women’s viewers come in all shapes and sizes and the producers don’t want them to be offended.’
Jamelia hasn’t actually appeared on the panel for months, so this goes some way towards explaining why.
It’s not yet clear who will be replacing the singer, but ITV have insisted that Jamelia ‘remains part of the ITV Daytime family and is currently working on This Morning‘, where she presents a segment focusing on beauty for black women.
