...and viewers are NOT impressed
Honey G had a pretty awkward experience on Good Morning Britain earlier today.
The X Factor contestant made a grand entrance, rapping Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On as she walked into the show’s studio.
But unfortunately for Honey – real name Anna Georgette Gilford – she, er, appeared to forget the words halfway through.
Between the lines ‘I know you dig the way I sw-sw-switch my style,’ and ‘people sing around,’ the 35-year-old stopped rapping, instead awkwardly waving her arms as the music played in the background.
As she started up again, presenter Kate Garraway exclaimed: ‘Oh my goodness me, here she comes!’
Viewers immediately took to Twitter to vent, both about her slip-up and the fact that she was on the programme at all.
Messages included: ‘Turn tv on. Honey g is on good morning Britain. Turn tv off,’ and: ‘Well I for one will not be watching Good Morning Britain, big off Honey G Time [sic].’
Eep. It was revealed last week that Honey had been signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco – before Matt Terry had even been announced as the winner.
She also appeared on The X Factor final to debut her new single The Honey G Show, which no contestant has ever done before.
On GMB, she said: ‘The official offer from Simon Cowell’s record label Syco came through over the last week and I’m really happy about that. I’m really happy Simon’s backing me.
‘I asked Simon if he liked the single and he told me he loved it!
‘My career in IT recruitment is over – which is something I’m very, very, pleased about. X Factor has completely turned my life around.
‘So, you know, it’s probably been one of the most life changing experiences of my whole life.
‘I’m hoping to be Honey G for the rest of my life now. X Factor has made me realise who I really am.’
