The contestant has spoken out about the rumour that he threatened to walk out, and explained why he's been quiet on social media this week...
Strictly Come Dancing can leave us all feeling a little, erm, passionate. We’re not ashamed to admit that it can get pretty tense, even from the cosy surroundings of our sofas.
But contestant Greg Rutherford didn’t take the events of last weekend’s show very well, at least, if the latest reports are anything to go by.
As part of Strictly’s highly anticipated Halloween special, Greg and his dance partner Natalie performed a rumba to Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life. A tune, we’re sure you’ll agree.
Sadly, the judges didn’t seem particularly impressed by what they saw. Craig Revel Horwood gave the Olympian just four points, whilst dissing Natalie’s choreography skills. Ouch.
Pretty harsh, no? It even left poor Natalie in tears.
It’s been alleged that Greg reacted quite emotionally behind the scenes. A source alleged to The Mirror that he ‘insisted that he was done with the show’.
According to the report, he was ‘saying he was leaving, that they couldn’t treat Natalie like that.’
Defending himself on BBC Breakfast today, Greg explained: ‘No, no, no… I was sitting outside with Natalie and talking and feeling sad. There might have been a tear or two but that’s about the extent of where it went.’

Explaining the source of his disappointment, a friend of Greg’s reportedly told the Metro: ‘Greg is a world-class sportsperson and as such has a desire to be the best in everything that he does.
‘His ambition to succeed is what drives him and he is very passionate about the competition. He threw everything into his Rumba on Saturday night so he was disappointed that he didn’t do as well as he had expected.’
Greg broke his silence not long after the show, taking to Twitter to explain: ‘Cannot even describe my level of disappointment tonight. Never did I think I’d feel this disheartened from dancing on a show! Mental.’
We think you did an amazing job, guys.
He then appeared to go a little quiet on his social media accounts, but has since assured fans: ‘Been a bit quiet past few days. Annoyingly Sunday I went down with an awful flu like bug feeling better now thankfully’ [sic].
Wishing you the best, Greg.
