The 27-year-old singer opens up about the vile comments people have made on her online pages...
*Sigh*. We’re getting seriously bored of trolls now.
Frankie Bridge is the latest celebrity to open up about the online bullying she’s been subjected to. And what she’s described is really, REALLY not cool.
Appearing on Lorraine earlier today, the 27-year-old said: ‘When I first started my career there wasn’t any social media so I never had to deal with that.
‘But since then I’ve had some really nasty comments, things about my weight or past relationships, you know, death threats. It just really frightened me really. I didn’t really tell anyone about it.
‘Because it’s online, I just thought: “Oh what can you do about it?” I think that’s the worst thing, it does make you feel quite lonely and that there’s nothing you can do about it.’
Frankie was so horrified by the abuse, she decided it was time to track down the people behind the comments.
And that’s exactly what she’s done for new Channel 5 documentary Celeb Trolls: We’re Coming To Get You.
The Saturdays singer – who has sons Parker, two, and one-year-old Carter with husband Wayne Bridge – says the scariest thing about her trip was realising that these bullies are just normal people.
She continued: ‘When you go and meet these trolls, it’s become a faceless thing. People have become very brave, they’ve become very safe.
‘It hurts just as much and it’s just as scary as if I say it to your face or if I say it online. I’d just want to know why. Unless you know that person really well, how can you hate someone so much?’
