Lady Gaga has landed the high-fashion role of a lifetime as the official face of Versace‘s new SS14 campaign.
The outlandish popstar was unveiled as the brand’s new celebrity muse over the weekend, with the Italian fashion house tweeting: ‘#Versace proudly confirms @LadyGaga as the face of SS14 campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott #VersaceLovesGaga’.
In the first ever campaign shot, the 27-year-old fashion-loving eccentric is seen reclining in a slinky lilac Versace gown complete with knotted bandage detailing and huge gilded silver brooches, channelling mermaid chic with long, blonde Rapunzal locks, barely-there eye make-up and a hint of a peach lip. Gorgeous!
The announcement comes after weeks of excited whispers that the amazing high-fashion collaboraton between the pair was in the pipeline after Gaga penned a song about her famous fashion friend Donatella for her new ARTPOP album, entitled (you guessed it) – Donatella.
Clearly over the moon with her hot new gig, Gaga also took to Twitter to comment on her happy news: ‘I’m so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign! What do you wanna wear this Spring? #Donatella #famiglia’, she posted.
Gaga even rocked up to the American Music Awards over the weekend in the campaign gown itself, with Versace’s eccentric new muse riding into the ceremony on an, er, gigantic white horse.
