The ITV presenter was branded 'disrespectful' after an exchange with their guest, Hersha Patel...

It’s safe to say that viewers of This Morning were not impressed by something that Eamonn Holmes appeared to say during an exchange on the show today.

The presenter was stepping in for regulars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for Fridays show, with his wife Ruth Langsford.

But it was an awkward comment, directed at chef Hersha Patel, that had viewers flocking to social media to criticise him.

'This Morning' TV show, London, UK - 07 Oct 2016

Hersha cooked up a dhal with coconut chutney – yup, our mouths are watering too – but when Eamonn thanked her at the end of the segment, he appeared to say: ‘Thank you our little Indian’.

Taking to social media, viewers branded the 56-year-old ‘disrespectful’ after his comment.

One wrote: ‘Not sure why Eamon just bellowed “Thank you our little Indian!” in the face of the guest cook on This Morning…’

Another waded in: ‘wasn’t just me that heard that then.’

Apparently, Hersha actually refers to herself as a ‘Little Indian’ in her YouTube cookery videos.

Her channel has the title: ‘Cook with a Little Indian’.

So perhaps Eamonn was thinking to nod to her own self-given nickname?

Either way, fans of the show definitely didn’t seem aware of this, and were keen to have their opinions heard.

We’re definitely fans of Hersha’s recipes though.
