Dougie Poynter Admits He Still Loves Ellie Goulding

Let’s be honest, we were all pretty gutted when Dougie Poynter and Ellie Goulding confirmed their split last month.

We mean, they seemed to have it all, right? Music prowess, co-ordinated wardrobes and, of course, those choppy blond ‘dos.

It was Ellie, 29, who first revealed the sad news, admitting that she’d (understandably) been going through a ‘tough’ time.

Ellie Goulding has previously spoken about the break-up

She said: ‘When you’re in the public eye, it seems like you’re able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true.

‘I’m not in a relationship anymore and that’s been hard.’

Dougie Poynter has got very candid about his ex

Now McFly’s Dougie, 28, has opened up about the shock break-up, which came after he and Ellie had been dating for two years.

He’s admitted that he still loves his ex-girlfriend, telling The Sun: ‘We love each other very much. We are the best of friends.

Didn’t they look so good together? 🙁

‘We hung out at Coachella, like all day, with her friends and my friends. It was really, really cool. Everything is totally fine.’

So why did Ellie and Dougie end things in the first place? He continues: ‘It’s just both being all over the place. Like I said, we still get on really well.

Dougie Poynter is hoping to crack America as an actor

‘She’s one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. But just right now, it’s hard. I’m single now.’ Oh, Dougie :(.

Since separating from Ellie, the hunky bassist has been focusing on his career. McFly announced this week that they’re heading back on tour, and he’s also pursuing his acting dream in LA.

McFly recently announced a comeback tour

He says: ‘There’s a couple of potential roles circling. They shoot all over so it could be anywhere, but no matter what I think I’ll be spending a lot more time out in LA.

‘Overall I’m just happier there.’

We’re just glad to hear there are no hard feelings, Doug.
