Donald Trump’s Election Is Already Affecting Us Here In The UK

Lorraine was cancelled this morning, and viewers were FURIOUS...

Thought the election of President Trump wouldn’t affect the UK? Well, it already has… in the form of Lorraine being cancelled.

Yep. Today’s episode was replaced by an extended Good Morning Britain, which continued its coverage of the US presidential race.

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were broadcasting live from New York’s Times Square, keeping viewers up to date with Trump’s shock victory over Hillary Clinton.

Viewers were given advance warning, with a Tweet from Lorraine‘s official account reading: ‘Due to ITV’s coverage of the US election, Lorraine will return tomorrow at 8.30am. Follow @GMB for the latest updates on #ElectionNight.’

But that didn’t stop miffed fans from complaining.

Tweets included: ‘What a shame we desperately need some light relief 😰,’ and: ‘Oh please come back sooner @piersmorgan crowing & usual dreadful style of ‘interviewing’ i.e. Just using it as PiersPlatform so awful [sic].’

These people aren’t the only ones feeling the need of light relief right now.

It’s safe to say that Trump’s win has been a controversial one, with a huge amount of high-profile figures speaking out against the result.

In the celebrity world, Lady Gaga protested outside Trump Tower, while Katy Perry went on a lengthy Twitter rant.

Katy Perry is NOT happy about the results of the election

In a series of Tweets, the singer wrote: ‘WE WILL NEVER BE SILENCED. THE REVOLUTION IS COMING. RISE UP. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

‘WE WILL NEVER BE SILENCED. #LOVETRUMPSHATE. Do not sit still. Do not weep. MOVE. We are not a nation that will let HATE lead us.’

Things are looking a little different over on Trump’s page, where he’s posted his first message as President-elect.

He’s said: ‘Such a beautiful and important evening! The forgotten man and woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never before.’

We really hope that’s the case.
