Demi Lovato has always been an advocate for confidence, and if there’s one thing we love most about the star it’s her tendancy to never shy away from speaking her mind.

Fronting the February issue of Allure magazine, the Cool For The Summer songstress has stripped back the make-up to show off her freckles for the prize picture. And, true to form, her interview is just as raw.

Opening up about her days as a Disney star, Demi admitted one of her biggest regrets. She told Allure, ‘I signed with Disney Channel when I got Camp Rock, and I had a gap between my two front teeth. They were like, “Would you be willing to fix it?” I wish today that I hadn’t, because my gap was really cute.’

Her image has always been at the forefront of her mind. It’s no secret that Demi has fought through some serious personal struggles, including battles with both bulimia and anorexia, but it seems that she’s determined to keep the dialogue open and honest.

She told the beauty publication, ‘I’ll have people who are like, “Stop talking about eating disorders. Like, we get it. You struggled. Now shut up,”

‘I’m sure they get tired of reading about it, because I get tired of talking about it, but this summer I started wearing sexier stuff, and I got some hate for that—like, “You’ve changed.”

‘It’s like, What’s wrong with being confident enough to wear this?’

The 23-year-old went one step further to prove just how confident she really is now, taking to Instagram to share a raw, unretouched image from behind the scenes of the photo shoot.

She captioned her snap, ‘Behind the scenes (and bathroom door) of my Allure cover shoot.. Posting a #nophotoshop pic because I’m proud to show my body the way it naturally is.. (And there was great lighting…)’

Oh, we know ALL about that good lighting, right ladies?
