The judge reveals how she *really* feels about about Will quitting the show...

It was earlier this week that Will, 37, released a statement confirming he’d quit the BBC1 show due to ‘personal reasons’.

Will Young released this statement on his website

He wrote: ‘To be a part of Strictly has been a long time ambition of mine. As a performer, a viewer, and a fan of the show, to dance as a contestant was an experience I always hoped for.

‘I have made some great friends, and am in awe of their performances week in, week out. I have found a creative partnership with Karen [Clifton] that has been the most wonderful thing to experience.

‘I will be eternally grateful to her for her direction, talent and guiding me through three wonderful dances that I will be able to show my grandkids in years to come.’

Now judge Darcey’s told MailOnline: ‘It’s sad.

‘Unfortunately, being a judge we are not allowed to see the rehearsals or what happened during the week so you don’t know the ins and outs and you only arrive on the day of the live show.’

With Will keeping his ‘personal reasons’ firmly under wraps, it’s understandable that rumours have been swirling about why he really chose to leave the contest.

Some have pondered whether it could have had something to do with that bust-up with judge Len Goodman last weekend.

Len, 72, said Will’s Bollywood-inspired salsa ‘lacked traditional moves’ on Saturday night – which he disagreed with.

Len then told him to: ‘Show up, keep up and shut up.’ Eep.

But Darcey, 47, has debunked this, continuing: ‘It’s horrifying to think that somebody who could have easily got to the final [has left].

‘But you know, like in anybody’s lives, you have many things that are going on and it is not to do with Len Goodman – just to make that clear.’

Ah. We’re going to miss you, Will.
