When Daisy Lowe scored higher than Danny Mac on Saturday night, some Strictly fans were *not* happy...

We saw Strictly Come Dancing kick off in suitably spangly style on Friday night, and we’re pleased to report that this year’s celebrity talent did NOT disappoint.

Amongst the high scorers were Anastacia and Louise Redknapp, both of whom impressed over the weekend. But our hats totally went off to Danny Mac on Saturday night, who performed like a finalist with his seriously impressive Tango to DNCE’s ‘Cake By The Ocean’.

Daisy Lowe performed a beautiful waltz as her opening dance….

With his sexy snake hips and fancy footwork, we’re not ashamed to admit that the Hollyoaks star’s epic performance left us with more than a little crush…

But there was some controversy when it came to Danny’s score, as the judges only awarded him a total of 31 points, compared with Daisy Lowe’s 32.

Danny Mac’s fancy footwork had some viewers labelling him the best of the night….

Personally, we thought Daisy was equally as amazing with her romantic Waltz to Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable, but it seems viewers were left a little furious at the ‘unfair’ scoring.

‘Don’t quite get Len’s marking #daisylowe 9 but #DannyMac 7 wrong way round in my book #strictly’, one slammed.

‘Danny mac was much better then that daisy Lowe’, commented another.

Whilst a third even accused Strictly judges of fixing the scored, tweeting: ‘Well under marked considering the marking of others! #fix.’

However, Danny didn’t seem to upset about it, and took to Twitter himself after the show to offer up his heartfelt thanks.

‘Absolute belter of a night. Incredible performances from everyone. The support has been amazing, thank you. Massively overwhelmed! #Strictly’, he wrote.

The judge’s scores meant that Daisy ended up topping the first leaderboard of the series, with Danny coming a joint second with Louise Redknapp.

And as for who came last? It was Ed Balls, with his rather measly score of 21.

There’s always next week, eh?
