Eddie Davis passed away on the first day of Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals
Daisy Lowe seemed the picture of Strictly Come Dancing glitz on Saturday night’s launch show.
The 27-year-old was paired up with professional Aljaz Skorjanec, as well as taking part in the first group dance of the series.
But she was actually hiding a secret heartbreak throughout the evening, as her grandfather had passed away on the first day of rehearsals.
Eddie Davis – who helped raise the model – died aged 82 last week, after suffering a heart attack.
She tells the Daily Mirror: ‘It was all quite sudden. I was talking to him the day before. He was so excited about me doing the show.
‘It was pretty tough and thank God I had Lou [Redknapp]. She made it all better.’
Daisy quietly paid tribute to Eddie during the first episode, revealing beforehand: ‘I’m wearing his watch, his shirt and his necklace.
‘I’m going to be dancing for him. I’d quite like to dance to some of his favourite songs, too.
‘I’m just trying to be with my family whenever I have time off.’

And there’s one person in particular who she’s hoping to make proud – her grandmother Lee.
Daisy says: ‘She’ll be here every week, as long as I stay in. She said: “You’d best stay in to do that tango.”
‘My grandma has never missed an episode. She’s obsessed. She told me: “You’ve got to do Strictly. You can’t not do it.”
‘For my entire career I haven’t had to talk or really move. So it’ll be nice for people to get to know me.’
Sending you and your family lots of love, lady. And we can’t wait to see your moves!
