The Friends actress reiterates that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's is split is 'not about' her BFF Jen...

Courteney Cox wants to make it clear that Jennifer Aniston has nothing to do with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce.

The Friends actress, 52, is still very close to her former co-star, so she’s clearly aware of the way Jen’s been linked to the situation.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced their split last week

After Brad and Ange confirmed their break-up last week, thousands of memes about Jen – who’s now happily married to actor Justin Theroux – started popping up on social media.

A number of these featured her in character as Rachel Green, and made reference to her and Brad’s split back in 2005.

The New York Post even featured a giant photo of the 47-year-old laughing on its cover, alongside the caption ‘Brangelina 2004-2016’.

Now Courteney’s told Entertainment Tonight: ‘It’s not about [Jennifer]. I feel like we’re exacerbating it by even talking about it.’

So that’s that then.

Angelina, 41, was the one to file for divorce after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

She and Brad, 52, were together for 12 years and have six children together, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

At the time, Brad said in a statement: ‘I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids.

‘I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.’

Speaking on behalf of Angelina, a representative told PEOPLE: ‘This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.’

It’s all very heartbreaking, so we’re sending the whole family our love.
