The former X Factor judge shared a heartfelt message on New Year's Eve, just hours after something else had been posted to Twitter...

All eyes have been on the 33-year-old’s social media accounts, in the hope that she would confirm what we’ve all been waiting to hear.

Cheryl baby bump

Cheryl showed off a ‘bump’ at a Christmas carol concert…

So when a Twitter account, seemingly belonging to the pop princess, appeared to make the announcement, it was hardly surprising that her fans went into an absolute frenzy.

The account, which has been shown to be a fake, was set up with the intention of posing as the singer. A tweet went out which read: ‘So excited for what 2017 has in store, I’m ready!’, alongsideΒ a string of emojis which included a baby, a bottle and two people kissing.

The handle is just like Cheryl’s own, but with an added ‘l’ before her name, so it didn’t take too long for eagle-eyed fans to spot that it was a bogus account.

The tweet, which is still live on the social media sharing site, has gained over 500 likes and 83 retweets so far.

Many seem to have been tricked, though, with some fans offering their congratulations.

Others, however, have called it out, branding the faux announcement as ‘disgusting’.

Reactions included: ‘Let Cheryl tell us when she is ready’,Β ‘fakeeeeee’ and ‘this isn’t even Cheryl’.

But the REAL Cheryl did post a festive message for her fans, over on her verified Instagram page.

Hours after the hoax on Twitter, Chezza shared a Snapchat selfie and wrote: ‘Happy New Year Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead βœ¨πŸ’«Β Live πŸ™ŒπŸΌ love ❀️ laugh πŸ˜‚ learn πŸ’#2017’.

We have no doubt that there’ll be a lot in store for this little lady this year.

And we wish her, and her loved-up One Direction beau, all the best for 2017.
