Celebs Who Perfectly Shut Down The ‘Why Don’t You Have Kids’ Question

Sick of being constantly asked when you’re going to have kids? These celebs are soooo with you. And it’s probably a bit worse for them, as it’s not just their mum/aunt/boyfriend’s grandma pestering them, it’s the whole world. Yep, despite being actual MEGA STARS they’re still asked all the time why they don’t have kids, but luckily they’ve learned the best responses to SHUT IT DOWN…

Here are our faves…

Cameron Diaz: “I have an unbelievable life. In some ways I have the life that I have because I don’t have children.”

Ellen Degeneres: “There have been rumours forever. ‘When are you and Portia gonna have a kid?’ So now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop,” she said of recently adopting a puppy and calling him Kid.

Kim Cattrall: “I am a parent. I have actors and actresses that I mentor. I have nieces and nephews that I am very close to. There is a way to become a mother in this day and age that doesn’t include your name on the child’s birth certificate.”

Stevie Nicks: “It’s like ‘do you want to be an artist and writer, or a wife and a lover?’ With kids your focus changes. I don’t want to go to PTA meetings.”

Marisa Tomei: “I don’t know why women need to have children to be seen as human beings”

Oprah Winfrey: “If I had kids, my kids would hate me… because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it probably wouldn’t been them.”

Jennifer Aniston: “You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t mothering – dogs, friends, friends’ children. There’s all sorts of reasons why children aren’t in people’s lives and no one has the right to assume. It’s quite rude, insulting and ignorant.”

Chelsea Handler: “I definitely don’t want to have kids. I don’t think I’d be a great mother. I don’t want to have a kid and have it raised by a nanny. I don’t have the time to raise a child myself.”

Helen Mirren: “I am so happy that I didn’t have children… because I’ve had freedom.”

Dita Von Teese: “I was married to someone who was not cut-out to be a father. He could hardly take care of himself, let alone a child, so I changed my views and adapted according, and thought ‘it’s OK not to have children.’ Now I’m just going to watch how my life unfolds and see what happens. I’m not going to be less of a person if I don’t have children.”
