Carey Mulligan has ditched her cool blonde tresses in exchange for a sophisticated brunette hue as part of her dramatic new hair makeover.
The British beauty showcased her gorgeous new ‘do at the Inside Llewyn Davis film premiere in New York over the weekend, when she hit the red carpet sporting rich dark locks peppered with subtle caramel highlights.
With her newly-coloured hair pinned into an elegant updo, Carey’s soft and natural look was worlds away from that of blonde bombshell Daisy Buchanan, the character she played in Baz Luhrmann’s recent adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
The 28-year-old actress later hit the stage to rock her new hue at the Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis concert, where she performed alongside songwriter legend Elvis Costello.
Hubby Marcus Mumford also performed with his band Mumford & Sons, but sadly there was no couple’s crooning to be had for the crowd. Damn!
We loved her platinum blonde crop, but there’s something about this rich chesnut shade that sets off her milky glow and dark peepers to perfection.
Or maybe there’s just something about Carey…
