Oh, poor Caitlyn! First, a punch on the face, and then a rude insult? Whatever next, Simon Cowell...
So, this weekend’s installment of The X Factor which saw all four categories take part in the infamous Six Chair Challenge, was brutal.
With Louis changing his mind more times than we can even remember, the harsh game of musical chairs left us all shouting at our TV screens as we watched the talented hopefuls get whittled down to just 24.
But things got even tougher for one unlucky contestant, when she was punched in the face by her own mentor and X Factor boss, Simon Cowell.
(Okay, it was totally an accident, but that doesn’t make it any less painful).
Caitlyn Vanbeck put on an amazing performance with her rendition of Rise Up by Andra Day and managed to beat off some stiff competition to earn herself a hot seat in Simon’s girls category.
But as SiCo joined his final group on stage to welcome them to judges’ houses stage, he left Caitlyn nursing a rather sore face after accidentally catching her with his fist.
Although the clip didn’t make it onto the main show last night, it was later played on ITV2’s spin-off Xtra Factor, where hosts Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson asked Caitlyn if she was going to press charges for the ordeal.
The student from Edinburgh joked: “Yeah, maybe. He’s got a lot of money.”
But as well as getting accidentally punched by Simon, fans of the show also thought the 18-year-old took a verbal swipe from her mentor after wrongly assuming he called her fat.
After judge Nicole Scherzinger showered Caitlyn with praise for her ‘moving performance’, the former Pussycat Doll added: ‘You better take one of those seats home.’

To which an impressed Simon also added: “I don’t think you’re aware of how good you are. I don’t want to give you a chair… I want to give you a sofa.”
Obviously, the popular judge only meant that her talent was so big she needed a sofa to sit on, but some this didn’t stop ITV viewers from jumping to their own conclusions.
One tweeted: “You calling her fat, Cowell?!”
Another person wrote: “I don’t want to give you a chair, I want to give you a sofa!” She’s not that fat Simon! #Xfactor.”
“Did Simon just call her fat? #xfactor.” another questioned.
Whoops. Maybe stick to the classic ‘It’s a definite yes from me’ next time to save any confusion, eh Simon?
