Reports had surfaced claiming that the 60-year-old judge was angry with the lack of a dance-off on Sunday, but he's hit back...
The drama from last weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing is still rumbling on.
On Sunday, we saw Anastacia opt out of the dance-off after landing in the bottom two with fellow contestant Melvin Odoom.
At the time, the 48-year-old singer explained that she felt unable to perform because her double mastectomy scar had torn.
But despite Anastacia’s traumatic injury, the producers’ decision to boot off Melvin without a dance-off led to a bit of controversy.
While he did receive the lowest number of public votes, Tweets included: ‘If Anastasia can’t dance she should forfeit the competition and go out, not Melvin. #strictly,’ and: ‘Just caught up on #Strictly and if there had been a dance off Anastasia would’ve defo gone! Poor Melvin!’
Reports then emerged that one of the judges was upset about the evening’s proceedings.
According to the Daily Star, Bruno Tonioli ‘stormed out of the studios and got into a car demanding to be taken home’. Eep.
However, they allegedly managed to persuade him to return to the pre-recording on Saturday night, with a source saying: ‘The studio audience had no idea about the backstage drama.’
Hmm. Would Bruno really be so unprofessional? Well, as it turns out, apparently not.
His representative has since hit back at the claims, telling OK! Online: ‘Bruno did not get into his car and demand to be taken home and nor did he hold up recording.’
Phew. We’re glad to hear it.
Anastacia has since confirmed that she’ll be fit enough to dance this weekend, with a statement on her Instagram reading: ‘Anastacia visited the clinic of a specialist in breast reconstruction surgery.
‘The doctor again confirmed that there was a tear in the scar tissue, which although painful is not permanent.
‘She was given the all-clear to dance this weekend with the caveat that the routine is carefully choreographed and she has been given the appropriate medication.’
