James Corden has been taken ill and may not recover in time to host tonight’s BRIT Awards ceremony at the O2 Arena.
The comedian has contracted tonsillitis and was reportedly sent home from rehearsals earlier this week because he felt too unwell.
This morning, a spokesperson for the star denied the severity of the illness, saying that it has been “greatly overplayed”. But radio host Chris Evans has just announced that he’s been asked to step in should James lose his voice altogether. Yikes!
He tweeted: “Just been declared official BRITs stand by host/understudy. In case James’s voice doesn’t make it to the Lifetime Achievement award. Now – how to nobble him. In a nice way of course.”
