Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model, the reality show responsible for discovering Abbey Clancy, has been axed.
Sky Living revealed the news to Digital Spy today, confirming that the ninth series will be the show’s last.
‘After nearly a decade on air, BINTM won’t be returning to Sky Living next year,’ a rep for the broadcaster says.
Abbey Clancy, now a successfull lingerie and catwalk model, TV presenter and current contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, was discovered on the second series off the modelling show.
Now married to footballer Peter Crouch, Abbey actually lost out on the final top spot to Lianna Fowler. But we’re betting she’s not all that bothered now…
Abbey’s former Strictly Come Dancing co-star Julien Macdonald also appeared on BINTM’s earlier series, judging alongside host Elle Macpherson.
‘We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the talent who have been involved in the series, with particular thanks to Thumbs Up Productions, exec producer and host Elle Macpherson and this final season’s judges Dannii Minogue and Tyson Beckford,’ the rep added.
Naturally the rumour mill is already riff with word of Dannii Minogues’ return to the X Factor. With Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow, and, erm, Louis Walsh all expected to leave after 2013 – the Aussie star could be first in line for the next series.
That said, Dannii already has her feet firmly under the table at the ITV show’s sister series in Australia.
The BINTM shake up will now allow the channel to focus its attention on new rival show, The Face, which is already proving to be a BIG hit with viewers.
Hardly surprising, given that the fiercest lady in fashion, Naomi Campbell, is in charge.
