According to reports, Beyoncé will be returning to the big screen. Cue fan-girl screams. The star had us all captivated in her role as Deena in the 2006 hit Dreamgirls, which we can’t believe was almost 10 years ago now. So it’s only right that the megastar would make a comeback with a bang, in true Beyoncé style. If you’re a massive Bey fan like us, this is probably the best news ever. But that’s not all’ the über talented and Oscar-nominated Bradley Cooper, is set to not only star in the film but is rumoured to be directing it too.
SEE: Is Beyonce Taking Acting Lessons?
While you try to absorb that exciting news, let’s tell you what we know so far. The new project is set to be a remake of the film A Star Is Born, which has already been remade twice since its first screening in 1937; once with Judy Garland and then with Barbara Streisand. The film is about an actress who falls for her leading man, whose career takes a nosedive as hers is on the up. While those are some big shoes to fill, we’re pretty sure Bey can make it her own.
The remake was originally set to be directed by Clint Eastwood, but now that Bradley’s involved we can’t wait to see how he does behind the camera.
Bradley is also rumoured to be looking to fill his cast list with a bevy of talented actors too. We don’t doubt for a second that Jennifer Lawrence will make an appearance in the film, with the duo’s amazing on-screen chemistry now infamous thanks to their appearances in films such as Silver Linings Playbook and the upcoming Joy.
While we’re pretty excited at the thought of a film bringing Beyoncé and J-Law together, we may have a wait until this becomes a reality. Rumours suggest that filming won’t take place until 2017, which means we’ve got a few years yet.
