Angelina Jolie will be jetting into London this Sunday for the premiere of Brad Pitt‘s new movie, World War Z, for her first red carpet appearence since her double mastectomy – which happens to fall on the same day as her aunt’s funeral.
Her mother’s sister, Debbie Martin, sadly passed away from breast cancer on Tuesday aged just 61. And with the funeral taking place in San Diego this weekend, the Salt actress will be forced to miss the event as she supports her husband at his premiere overseas.
Debbie’s husband Ron told E! News: “We are making the final arrangements for the funeral as we speak… Angelina will be in London on Sunday so she won’t be able to attend but she has been in touch with us and with various other members of the family, which has obviously been lovely and has meant a lot to us.”
Ron has previously praised his niece’s brave decision to undergo preventitive surgery after discovering she carried a defective gene which would dramatically increase her risk of breast cancer. Speaking at the time, he said: “Debbie and I were both very proud of her recent decision to have the double mastectomy and to do everything she can to keep her family from having to go through what we’ve been through.”
While it must have been a hugely tough decision for Ange to make, we have no doubt her thoughts will be firmly with her family on the day.
