Here’s why you shouldn’t eat breakfast on the way to work

It’s 7am and there’s an hour until you’ve got to leave for work. Why waste valuable pillow time when you can just grab a bite on the walk to the station? Because you’re tricking yourself, thats why.

A study from the University of Surrey has said that eating on the go is directly linked to weight gain. Is there nothing we can do anymore?!

Research shows that walking distracts your brain, so it doesn’t remember eating and you stay hungry, which leads to overeating.

And the problem doesn’t stop there! Apparently, any form of distraction during meals can have the same effect. So catching up on Made In Chelsea over a quick lunch time pasta pot is likely to leave you looking less than svelte.

Lead author of the study Professor Jane Ogden said: “When we don’t fully concentrate on our meals and the process of taking in food, we fall into a trap of mindless eating where we don’t track or recognise the food that has just been consumed.”

So stash away that magazine and focus on your delicious breakfast. Why not try these great fat-burning breakfast ideas from Health.com?
