These are the best Autumn workwear wardrobe updates

Autumn is fast approaching. The chill is creeping in and all you want to do is buy loads of new coats and some cosy knitwear. But you want to look stylish and professional when wrapped up in all these layers for work, and here’s how.

From the hottest colour of the season to the style of coat you should be wearing, we have you covered for when the first leaves fall.

1. Asymmetric Knits

Knitwear for autumn may be less than groundbreaking, but next season your trusty jumpers are getting a style make-over. Asymmetric cuts are the chicest fall update and are great for workwear. Seen on the catwalk at Donna Karen, this is a high-end trend here to stay. Trust blogger Chiara to be a already showing us how it’s done.

2. The humble trench

Thanks to global warming (probably), October is usually too warm for a big coat, but they also tend to be chilly enough to need some sort of coverage. Cue the trench coat – the coolest autumn wardrobe update ever. If you can’t justify shelling out a hefty amount for a Burberry one, head over to Topshop. Throw a trench over jeans and a simple tee on your off-duty days, and smarten up a pencil skirt during the working week. Versatile, timeless AND practical – you really can’t go wrong. Here Elisa shows us how to rock one over jeans.

3. Burgundy

The hottest colour of AW15. Trust us. Burgundy was splashed all over the catwalks at February’s fashion weeks. These Russell and Bromley Highland boots now come in the colour, providing evidence for the shade’s new fashion credentials. Rochelle Humes can be seen wearing them on the X Factor set, below and Millie Mackintosh is also a fan. Although if your eyes are watering at the price tag, Public Desire has some cheaper thigh-high alternatives. For work make sure that you wear these with a midi skirt to avoid an inappropriate Cher in Clueless look.

4. Chanel-style touches

If you can’t afford an entire new wardrobe for the new season, add some small touches to bring staple looks into the new season. In other words – accessorize. This Chanel-style choker is less than a tenner. Zara is another go-to for Chanel inspired jewellery hits. Think neutral and jewel tones with fine detailing. You could even consider adding some cream, silk buttons to a jacket to give it a new lease of life. If all else fails, opt for Kendall Jenner’s Chanel monochrome manicure. Instant on-trend glamour.
