1. Follow the two minute rule
If a task takes less than two minutes to do, do it now. By doing this you will get a lot of jobs out the way quickly and you can clear up time to do other things. You will also feel like you have achieved something and feel productive, this will motivate you to do more work.
2. Learn to say no
Of course helping people is the kind thing to do, but sometimes it can leave you stressed out and distracted from the tasks you need to get done. Be assertive and don’t take on too much.
3. Turn off your notifications
Switch off from everyone for a while and have some ‘me’ time to get your work done. Put your phone in Do Not Disturb mode and enjoy some undisturbed time to knuckle down and focus. You can set the mode on iPhones so that if there is an emergency it will alert you but not for any other reason. Be selfish and force yourself to ignore distractions. You can get your work done in half the time and what could be better than that?
4. Unsubscribe to emails
Reading unnecessary emails wastes precious time to get your work done as quickly as possible. Don’t let emails distract you. Let them clog up some other inbox instead.
