5 times Amal Clooney won at workwear

Despite juggling a high-powered job as a human rights lawyer with red carpet appearances alongside a movie star husband, Amal Clooney always manages to dress to impress.

Since marrying George in an ivory jump suit, Amal has become a workwear icon. From using accessories to transform a simple suit, and wearing fashion-forward items like flared trousers to the office – she’s a genius at keeping it smart but fun. Here are five of her best looks.

1. Forget the suit, it’s all about the jumpsuit

Only Amal could make a jumpsuit look perfect for the office. By matching her tan bag and block heels, she brought the outfit together. The shade complemented her khaki outfit – a key colour combo for AW15.

2. Don’t shy away from colour

By injecting colour into simply cut office attire, Amal demonstrated that workwear needn’t be dull and drab. Colour will certainly get you noticed. The snakeskin detail on her collar also makes a stylish statement next to the bright orange top and coral midi-skirt.

3. Accessories are key

Amal showed how accessories can totally transform an outfit. She kept her look clean and simple with a white two-piece suit and nude heels, leaving her bag to do the talking. Its colour-block design completely freshened up anotherwise plain ensemble.

4. Flares are now a workwear staple

Seventies-style trousers are far from what springs to mind when you think of workwear. Yet one of the reasons why Amal is so stylish is because she isn’t afraid of a sartorial experiment or two. She pared these printed flares with a simple black top and accessories. The result was an elegant outfit which looked totally business-appropriate whilst also on-trend and comfortable.

5. Desk-to-drinks dressing is this simple

Black is of course a go-to colour in any capsule wardrobe – it goes with everything. But it is also ideal for making you look office appropriate AND then evening appropriate for those afterwork drinks. Make like Amal and plan your outfit to perfection in this shade.
