Being on the dating scene is a risky business. Now more than ever, you’ve really got to learn to roll the dice on some guys. Even the ones that seem super normal can turn out bad eggs and the socially awkward guys could be the one. Dating feels harder than it needs to be sometimes.
But don’t let that distract you from your number one priority: self-preservation.
For too long people have sat through terrible dates that make them feel uncomfortable and unsafe. That needs to end now.
Thankfully, one bar in Lincolnshire has set up a covert system to ensure that you always have an exit strategy if a questionable date turns sour.
A bar in Lincolnshire has put up a poster in the women’s bathroom that details a system that allows women in tricky situations to escape terrible dates with the help of the bar staff.
The sign encourages women feeling awkward or unsafe to mention a secret code word to a staff member. They will then arrange an exit strategy for you.
The poster has since gone viral with nearly 30,000 retweets and a Twitter thread of women sharing their experiences and instances where this poster would have really come in handy.
There’s also plenty of louder-than-thou dudes that get off on victim-blaming. Oh internet, never change. (Please change, for the love of God).
The poster reads: “Are you on a date that isn’t working out? Is your Tinder or POF [Plenty of Fish] date not who they said they were on their profile? Do you feel like you’re not in a safe situation? Does it all feel a bit weird?”
“If you go to the bar and ask for ‘Angela,’ the bar staff will know you need help getting out of your situation and will call you a taxi or help you out discreetly—without too much fuss.”
