If you, like us, are a GIF-mad crazy person, you’ll be over the moon with social media platform Instagram’s latest announcement.
So whip out your phone and shoot a five-photo burst, then watch (amazed) as it mashes them together to form a short video that plays forward and back for as long as you can stand (not long).
It’s the latest in a long line of GIF-led ventures from the world’s biggest tech giants. You can upload GIFs via Facebook messenger and as your profile picture now, and Apple introduced Live Photos earlier this year for its iPhone 6 and 6s models.
Boomerang (we are a big fan of the name) is available as a standalone app (just like Instagram’s other apps Layout and Hyperlapse) and there are sharing options to both Facebook and the original sister app.
So what are you waiting for? Grab you smart phone and go and take a picture of your dog snoring. What did you think it was for?
