Mindfulness is getting increasing popularity and is an important part of daily life, whether you meditate every day or simply take the time to focus on your breathing.
It isn’t easy to fit time into your busy day to think about mindfulness, but it’s important that you do! Here’s 8 ways to get mindful throughout the day.
1. Focus on your breathing
Take a moment each day, perhaps during your commute, to observe your breathing. Take deep breaths in and draw your exhaling out. This will help you to keep calm and focused whenever you feel anxious.
Get yourself moving, in the morning or in the evening. You’ll feel great afterwards and ready to conquer the rest of the day. Exercise will also ensure that you focus solely on the moment and your activity, rather than other worries.
3. Write a note
Any worries you have during the day can be written down on a piece of paper or in a notebook and addressed later on when you have time to consider them carefully. Designated ‘worry time’ will stop your fears from impacting on daily life, and you can reflect properly when you have more time at the end of the day.

5. Get creative
Have a scribble on a piece of scrap paper. It doesn’t have to be a work of art, but doodling will get you feeling creative and will help you throughout the day if you start to feel distracted.
6. Set daily goals
Set yourself goals for your personal and work life, to ensure that you achieve something every day, however small. Divide it into 3 areas:
Relationships – investing meaningful time into a family member or friend.
Strive – achieve something in your work or personal life that you have on your to-do list.
Self-care – give yourself a break and do something that is purely just for you.
7. Go for a walk
Spend your lunch break going for a stroll around the area – it doesn’t have to be a long walk, but it will give you time to step away from your desk and take time for yourself.

8. Switch off
In the evening, give yourself an hour or so without your devices. Switch off your phone and your laptop and take the time to completely relax, without the constant notifications and intrusion from the outside.
