Life is pretty expensive. Paying bills and rent doesn’t exactly leave a lot of extra cash to splurge on weekend fun (*understatement). So do we love free things? YES.
Here’s five cool things to do or get this weekend, even if you blew most of your paycheck last week. They don’t cost a penny.
On Saturday and Sunday you can get access to some of the most exclusive places in the capital, for one weekend only. Iconic buildings such as the Bank of England and the BT Tower are open, as are quirky houses such as some featured on Grand Designs. Access is free all weekend but expect some of the more popular venues to get pretty busy.
Legendary music magazine NME has gone free (!) so you have to go and pick up your copy. Cover star Rihanna does an exclusive interview inside where she talks about her career in the music industry, Taylor Swift as role model and the perils of the persistent paparazzi. Find out where you can pick up your free copy here.
3. Free beer
It’s Beer Week in Bristol (starting tomorrow). Free beers are on offer from loads of different types and brands. It’s also the last weekend of Banksy’s Dismaland Bemusement Park, so after your freebie drinks you could head down there. Tickets are available for it tomorrow morning if you ring up from 10am.
Get a free tastecard this month and you can get loads of money off (usually 50% off) at restaurants around the country such as Pizza Express, Zizzi and GBK.
Ok this isn’t quite free but, you really can get prosecco for a penny this weekend! Now that’s one awesome reason to get out of bed tomorrow morning! Order food from The Black Penny restaurant, London, which includes French toast and crispy confit duck and get a glass of fizz for only one penny!
