5 hidden features of Snapchat you should know about

So you think you’re Snapchat-savvy? We bet you didn’t know about all of the following hidden features.

From finding new friends to stepping back in time, these less obvious features might just change your life…

1. Use emojis to inject colour into your snap

For an extra splash of colour, choose an emoji with the shade of your choice and increase its size by zooming in with two fingers so that it covers your whole screen. When the edges begin to pixelate, drag the pixelated area over the frame so that it turns into a filter – ta-da!

2. Find new friends without needing their contact information

Click ‘Add Friends’ and at the bottom of the list you will have the option to ‘Add Nearby’. Provided your new friends are in the same room as you, your clever phone will seek them out and invite you to become friends forever.

3. Go beyond the dreaded text limit

Few things in life are more frustrating than running over Snapchat’s text limit by just one character. Fortunately for you, we have the solution to this first-world problem. Simply head to your Notes app., select a range of blank text and copy and paste it back to Snapchat. Et voila, you may now start writing your feature-length caption to your snap.

4. Resurrect old filters

Miss the puking rainbow lense? So do we. Fear not, you can resurrect all of Snapchat’s previous filters by simply changing the date in your phone settings. Just make sure you change it back once you’re done or you might be incredibly late for work the next day.

5. Personalise your profile

We’re not actually ghosts so why are we pretending to be? Replace this friendly figure with a more realistic shot by clicking on the Snapchat icon at the top of your screen, and then on the larger ghost icon, before taking a beautiful selfie – the camera will take 5 shots to create a fun animation for all of your friends to enjoy.
