Pizza makers need to understand that with great power comes great responsibility. When the nation is depressed and can be comforted with pizza, it’s their moral duty to provide. This is why Franco Manca is offering free pizza this coming Blue Monday to anyone whose birthday is in January. It’s also why Pizza Hut is launching their ‘happiest pizza’ experience to battle the most depressing day of the year.
If you missed our Franco Manca report yesterday, firstly, read up because you could be eligible for free pizza, and secondly, it’ll probably help you to know what Blue Monday actually is.
Blue Monday is a cross-section of factors like weather, debt, time elapsed since Christmas and the likelihood of giving up on resolutions. It basically is ‘statistically’ the most depressing day of the year.
To try and overcome the sadness in the air this coming Monday, Pizza Hut (of all companies) have teamed up with behavioural psychologists to create the most relaxing, enjoyable and serotonin-boosting pizza experience known to man,
This Pizza Hut experience will have customers eating a specially designed pizza while watching a piece of audio-visual art that stimulates the release of happiness-inducing chemicals. It’s wacky science but there’s pizza involved so we’re game.
The pizza in mind is a slice that features tomato sauce, mozzarella, tuna, red onion, olives and sweetcorn.
Check out the video below for a slice of the audio-visual portion of the experience.
How did that feel? It uses the top 10 visual and audio cues that create the right psychological responses linked to happiness. Research findings included babies, baby laughter, puppies and kittens, love hearts, sunsets, rainbows and clouds – well, obviously.
There’s no special code or limited time on this experience. Just download or stream the video and order a pizza with all the above ingredients.
If you still feel sad afterwards… maybe just order another pizza?
