Daniel Radcliffe is an anomaly in Hollywood. A child star for one of the most successful movie franchises in history and he turns out to be a really grounded, cool guy. That doesn’t happen. Look at Macaulay Culkin, for example. He went off the rails for a bit!
What keeps child stars in the public eye when their franchise is over tends to be their money but we were amazed when Daniel Radcliffe revealed what we did with his estimated $74 million in savings.
He does absolutely nothing.
Yep. Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, the Boy Who Lived said: “I don’t really do anything with my money”.
So why? Well, surprisingly, the man is so committed to his job he uses the money as a cushion to give him “immense freedom, career-wise”.
If you haven’t been following Radcliffe’s career recently, the actor has been working on two films in particular. In Imperium, Daniel plays the role of an FBI agent who goes under cover to infiltrate a dangerous white suprematist operation – it looks very intense.
In Swiss Army Man, however, Radcliffe embodies a super-powered, farting corpse…. yep.
As a working actor, taking a role like this could be detrimental to a rising career, mainly because there are no lines and it looks a bit weird. However, Radcliffe wants to be adventurous with his roles.
He says: “for all the people who’ve followed my career, I want to give them something to be interested in, rather than just watch me make loads of money on crap films for the rest of my life”.
Danny R has also been testing the waters with live theatre for quite a few years now. It’s so nice seeing an actor with a head on their shoulders.
He continued: “If someone told me tomorrow, ‘You’re never going back on set,’ I really wouldn’t know what to do with the rest of my life. I don’t know what my life looks like without regularly being on a film set.”
