Ooh. Have we just found out the real reason why Zayn Malik left One Direction?!
Former bandmate Liam Payne paid a visit to Capital FM this morning, and while he was there, seemed to let slip the real reason why Zayn sensationally quit back in March, telling the Breakfast Show’s Lisa Snowdon that his friend simply ‘wanted to spend time with his missus’.
‘Sometimes you have to move on because you’re not enjoying what you’re doing as much as you used to,’ Liam said. ‘He wanted to spend time with his family and his missus. That’s cool with us.’
Eek! Does this mean fiance Perrie Edwards was the main reason behind Zayn leaving? Well, there is that huge blowout (Disneyland?) wedding to plan…
In the interview with The Sun shortly after he quit 1D, the boybander admitted: ‘It is crazy and wild and a bit mad. But at the same time I’ve never felt more in control in my life. And I feel like I’m doing what’s right — right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good.’
He then added that he wanted to be ‘out of the spotlight’, but quickly hinted at a solo career, confirming that his plan was to: ‘Be myself for a bit. Write and relax and chill.’
Zayn was then seen hitting the recording studio in London the very next day, with reports that he’s already working on his first solo release with Naughty Boy. Ooh, the plot thickens…
